Shawn' Dream Car Story

This week I sat down with Shawn Fenwick, Service Manager of Volvo Cars Annapolis, and asked him the age old question - “What is your dream car?” His answer was prompt - “White 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera”. He continued by explaining where his love for the car began.

Similar to many of us and our dream cars, it has been a fixation since childhood for Shawn. When he was young, his father cleverly gifted his mother a bottle of champagne, driving gloves, and the keys to a brand new Porsche 944 in that order one Christmas morning. So pleased with the 944, his father followed it up with a 911 several years later for himself.

Shawn initially found the new coupe unattractive and had no interest in riding passenger. That was until one day his mother asked him if he wanted to go for a ride in the Porsche. Assuming she was referring to her beloved 944, he agreed. She instead grabbed the keys to the 911 and convinced him to give it a chance. Shawn’s feelings towards the legendary Porsche have never been the same since.

Here we are years later. Shawn is in the auto industry, just like his father, and after that memorable drive with his mother through the winding Maryland back roads with the targa top off, enjoying the experience that only an old 911 can provide, he remains fixed on his dream car - “White 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera”
