🛻 Facing the Aftermath and Community Front Runners 🚐

Today’s newsletter brought to you by

The 4th has passed and we hope you had a RADD celebration. We certainly did. Now it’s time to settle back in and start picking up the pieces (or paperwork backlog) left from a very eventful past few weeks…

IT’S BACK TO REALITY

CDK is back up for just about all dealers, but now the real trouble begins. Parts and Service departments are dealing with HUGE backlogs of paperwork. Many personnel are taking to Reddit to voice their frustrations like the post above.

Could this all have been caused by clicking an unfamiliar link in an email?

There are speculations as to how exactly something like this was allowed to happen. Some blame outdated software other blame poor information security.

Interestingly enough, CDK Global’s (CDK) stock price has remained almost completely unchanged over the last month despite the events.

IT’S CARING

Presented by

A Day with Vehicles for Change

This Tuesday RADD had the privilege to join Vehicles for change at Heritage Toyota as they awarded 10 cars to families lacking reliable transportation. The event was fun and enriching, and we are so glad we were able to be apart of it.

VFC is truly making a difference and providing those in need with reliable transportation so they can maintain steady employment. Providing these vehicles not only changes their lives, but it creates a more productive community where everyone has an equal opportunity for success.

IT’S MARYLAND

The Key Bridge — What Now?

With the Dali removed and the wreckage mostly cleared, we are now faced with the ominous question; Who’s going to pay to rebuild this bridge? Well, Maryland officials certainly have their answer - The Federal Government. Congress does not seem to be on the same page, however.

Yesterday MD officials urged Congress to pass a bill pledging to cover ALL costs of rebuilding Baltimore’s Key Bridge. This was met with some pushback as the standard procedure is to cover only 80-90% of emergency costs for each state. However, taking into consideration the scale of the tragedy and President Biden’s statement, claiming “the federal government will cover the cost of rebuilding this entire bridge — all of it.”, It looks like we have a fighting chance.

The next question is WHO is going to rebuild it. Interestingly enough, that answer is left up to you. You can actually submit your ideas and apply to take on the daunting task right on procurement.maryland.gov. Think you’ve got the chops?
