IT’S THE INDUSTRY

Several perils face the Maryland auto industry in 2025. Staying up-to-date is more important now than ever

One uncertainty is the new inter-border tariffs and how long they will be in affect. These tariffs will directly affect the price of new cars and car parts, in turn costing the dealers and consumers more.

Peter Kitzmiller, President of the MADA, spoke with WMAR this week, elaborating on the potential impact.

“The estimates you see, they're kind of all over the board. But, I think it's a pretty safe assumption that we're looking at a three to six thousand dollar increase on the price of vehicles, if these tariffs remain in effect for any length of time.”

Another challenge faced by all MD dealers is the new budget proposed by the governor. Although the budget is still under review, it currently includes the repeal of the current Trade-In Value Tax Credit offered to dealers and customers when one vehicle is traded-in for tax credits towards another.

Fortunately we are already hard at work fighting this repeal. You can join in too and fight for your profits by scrolling to the bottom of this newsletter and following the instructions or by using the link below.
